Monaco Gaming Show: all you need to know about tournaments!

Find out all the important information related to the different qualifications and final phases of the Monaco Gaming Show.

The month of December will be animated with the organization of the Monaco Gaming Show, one of the largest online esport events ever organized in France! When you think about esports events, you directly think about tournaments, and on this occasion MGS decided to organize two competitions on two of the main video game titles: Fortnite and Rocket League. The choice of those two important games in the esports landscape was obviously not a random choice at all. If you want to learn more about that, do not hesitate to check our announcement article!

As a worldwide event, it was decided to make the two tournaments as accessible as possible to allow the maximum number of players to participate, show their skill and prove their level. This will be done through an advanced series of qualifying tournaments that we will detail here so that you can best prepare yourself for this unique event!

Fortnite

Given the success and popularity of the main Epic Games’ flagship title, MGS has chosen to offer two qualifying rounds that each contain four tournaments, meaning eight in all. These tournaments will start very soon with the first phase and will be followed by the second phase a couple of days later. They will allow the best players to access the Monaco Gaming Show Grand Final which will take place on December 18th, live streamed!

Registrations are open to everyone for the first phase. However, only players who have qualified after the first phase can participate in the second phase. Important: the first phase will take place in Buildfight, the second in Boxfight and the Grand Final in Battle Royale, make sure you practice in all three modes!

First qualifying phase BUILDFIGHT (Simple Bracket) :

  • Friday 4th of December at 5.15pm CET // 2048 players > 1024 qualified for the second phase
  • Saturday 5th of December at 1.15pm CET // 2048 players > 1024 qualified for the second phase
  • Saturday 5th of December at 5.15pm CET // 2048 players > 1024 qualified for the second phase
  • Sunday 6th of December at 2.30pm CET // 2048 players > 1024 qualified for the second phase

Note that each of these tournaments will offer a cash prize of € 500 for the first two players of each tournament, with € 300 for the winner and € 200 for the second!

Second qualifying phase BOX FIGHT (Simple Bracket) :

  • Friday 11th of December at 5.15pm CET // 1024 slots > 16 qualified for the Grand Finals
  • Saturday 12th of December at 1.15pm CET // 1024 slots > 16 qualified for the Grand Finals
  • Saturday 12th of December at 5.15pm CET// 1024 slots > 16 qualified for the Grand Finals
  • Sunday 13th of December at 2.30pm CET // 1024 slots > 16 qualified for the Grand Finals

This time, each of the tournaments will have a cash prize of € 250, with € 200 for the winner and € 50 for the 2nd.

Finally, the 64 players who managed to go through phase 2 will participate in a final phase which will this time be played in BATTLE ROYALE mode. On this occasion, they will meet 32 ​​ invited players including emblematic Fortnite esports players from all over the world.

Grand Final BATTLE ROYALE (Simple Bracket):

  • Friday 18th of December from 6.30pm CET // 64 qualified + 32 invited players

The grand final will feature the BATTLE ROYALE mode, with five rounds played. The winner will be the one with the most points at the end of these five games and will therefore win the very first Fortnite title from the Monaco Gaming Show, as well as € 5,000! For the rest of the cash prize, the breakdown will be as follows:

First : 5000 €

2nd 3000 €

3rd 2000 €

4th 1500 €

5th 1200 €

6th 900 €

7th 700 €

8th 500 €

9th 400 €

10th-15th : 300 €

Rocket League

Just like Fortnite, Rocket League will also feature  its own qualifying phase for the Grand Final. This time there will be four qualifying tournaments, each opened to up to 256 teams. Note that unlike Fortnite, only the winning team of each tournament will win their direct ticket to the Finals.

Qualifying phase (Simple Bracket):

  • Sunday 13th of December at 1pm CET // 256 teams > 1 Team Qualified
  • Monday 14th of December at 6pm CET // 256 teams > 1 Team Qualified
  • Tuesday 15th of December at 6pm CET // 256 teams > 1 Team Qualified
  • Wednesday 16th of December at 6pm CET // 256 teams > 1 Team Qualified

Once this phase is over, the four teams qualified for the Grand Final on December 19th will be joined by four other invited teams, including some of the best teams in the world! The format will be a single bracket, with quarter and semifinals played in BO5 and the Grand Final in BO7. This entire phase will of course be broadcasted on Twitch, but we’ll talk about it in another upcoming article, so stay tuned!

Grand Finals (Simple Bracket) :

  • Saturday 19th of December starting at 1pm CET // 4 qualified teams + 4 invited teams

The team that will win will earn the exceptional cash prize of 10 000€

Split details of the cash prize:

Winner : 10000€

2nd : 4000€

Top 3- 4 : 2000€ for each team

Top 5-8 : 500€ for each team
